Everyone Loves Brussel Sprouts

I snapped the sprouts off of the plants

and gave the stalks to the goats. By all the shoving, burping and leaf-grabbing, you’d think the boys were starved. But, look at those round bellies! Those goats always have full stomachs.

But, look who’s watching! Candy wants cabbage, too.

Okay, girl, here you go. Thanks for sharing with the hens.

This is what I harvested.

I’ll show you in another post how I cook Brussel sprouts.

Comments:

  1. Terry, if you can make them taste good…I will eat them! Can’t wait to see what you do to them!

    • Mom always called them “baby cabbages” and we gobbled them up when we were kids. I’m glad I had an adventurous Mom, and I still love all vegetables, raw or cooked !

  2. Trimmed, tossed in a little olive oil, sprinkled with S&P, and roasted ’til tender… YUM! I luuuuuv Brussels sprouts (especially the leaves that fall off in the pan and get crispy!).

  3. well I am a little ashamed to admit that I have never had Brussel sprouts…I am really interested to see how you cook them! They other comments make me think I need to try them…..we’ll see :)

  4. With chestnuts of course!

Have you tried them in a vegetable curry? Add them to a recipe that uses coconut cream/milk in the ingredients. You’ll be surprised how good they are. We borrowed the idea from a favourite Gudgerati restaurant in London.

Shredded and fried before adding a dash of cream and lots of pepper, is another favourite.

Try to buy them on the stick – stores really well and keeps us going for weeks.

  5. Oh that bowl of brussel sprouts looks so good. I can just taste them. Oh soooo good!

  6. Brussel sprouts are so delicious. Roasted is my favorite way to eat them. Yours look so fresh.
