For the last few months, I’ve been at my computer, writing. I’m going to take the week between Christmas and New Years to step away from the screen and spend time with family. No FaceBook. No blog posts. Limited email. I’ve taken books out of the library and I’m eager to read other people’s writing. My sons are off from school. No doubt there will be some cut throat games of Monopoly played this week.
We can’t see into the future.
But my hope is that the new year brings all of you comfort
and joy.

Your page is the first one I look at everyday as I check on my beloved Buffy. I love that little hen. The world would be a much better place if all of us patterned our behavior after that nice little hen. She is my favofite.

You too, Terry. Have a good Holiday with your sons and husband, and animals. Buffy is one of favorite hens too, and I am glad she keeps a ticking. Though I will miss Tina, I look forward to next year spring’s antics with your broody middle aged Buff Orphington’s and Pearl to see who will end being the foster mother of the new chicks, or you will have no broody hens when you need one again.
Me too on the ‘first thing I check out each morning’ comment. I appreciate all your posts, from the funny to the philosophical to the practical. Take that time off and enjoy the quiet and darkness of deep winter. My favorite time of year is Winter Solstice to Imbolc (Feb 1). Time for deep fun — time with a pen and journal, candles, tea, and family. Animals going at a different pace. Sun low in the sky, long nights for dreaming, reading or playing monopoly.

Since finding this website there have been many mornings before rushing off to work, that i just had to have a glimpse of the hens! On the weekends I often would catch up on any blogs I might have missed. I am so grateful for Hencam. Hencam has allowed me to visit Little Pond Farm where all of you are and connect a little. How wonderful and magical is that!

Are you one of those Monopoly families that isn’t allowed to go to bed until all of your properties have been mortgaged? Testing times ahead for you if so! Have a good rest, I plan to dig in with a bottle of very good red wine and watch all the films I have stacked up on the Sky plus thingie. My girls are ankle deep in mud, Dora has myco but there is Tylan in the fridge, and a shiny new year is a mere week or so away. Hope it’s a corker for all of us!
I too frequently go to the hencam to see how the ladies are doing. It would be interesting for people to post what part of the world they are watching from. I am looking from the central coast area of california

Thanks for all the pleasure HenCam gives me almost every morning (some days I don’t get to it, but they’re becoming rarer). Read a clue about Monopoly in a book (“Rules for My Unborn Son” by Walker Lamond) I just bought for my oldest grandson–BUY THE ORANGE PROPERTIES.

I see you have a light covering of snow again; here in UK we are experiencing really heavy rainfall and much of the country has been hit with floods. Its been like this for most of 2012 and many people are flooded out for the second and third time this year.

Oh my ! Looks like you have had a couple of feet of snow. All the chooks look cosy and the y seem to be enjoying the squash. Tried mine on the pumpkin after seeing yours tucking in so next shop will get a butternut for them. It’s so good to get ideas from you, thanks so much and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
