SUMMARY:Chicken Keeping Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is FULL. Spaces remain in the June 8 workshop. Keep an eye on this events page\, as I’ll be adding more programs! \nThis 2 hour workshop in my backyard will cover the basics of what you need to know to have your own small flock of laying hens. You’ll learn everything from feeding\, to flock dynamics\, to predator protection\, to what to do with manure (you’ll get to see my composting system.) I’ll have 25 chicks in a brooder\, so you’ll be able to observe first-hand how to care for young birds. And\, I’ll show you how to handle the older hens. You’ll even get to pick up a chicken! \n$40 per person\, includes iced tea and homemade cookies. \nLimited to 14 participants. Children age 8 and over are welcome to sign up.\nThe workshop runs rain or shine. Cancellation policy — up to one week before the event you will get a refund of $30. No refunds after April 23.
